Noel Gallo has been on the Oakland City Council since 2013.  He is the only incumbent that SOS Oakland is supporting.  We have him on our recommended election list for the following reason:

 

Noel has been a consistent vote for moderate policies especially on:

• public safety and increasing the number of cops

• eliminating illegal dumping

• safeguarding and attracting economic development in Oakland, and District Five

 

Noel has fearlessly spoken truth to power.  When others have been silenced by political foes, Noel has spoken loudly and clearly.  For example, he was the only Council Member to dare say the city is headed to bankruptcy if they continue their reckless spending and adopting fudged budgets.

 

Noel does what others only pretend to do.  At election time it is common for candidates to go out and clean the streets.  That happens for a week or two before the election and ends immediately after.  Noel goes out to address illegal dumping and clean the streets in his district most every weekend, before after and during election season.

 

In our experience, Noel keeps his word, and we recommend that he keep his seat.
